What are the different types of materials a towel can be made from?

 A towel, be it any size is the first thing we need in the morning and the last item we use at night. It is one of the most important household item yet the one with the least care & attention to. Have we ever put a little bit of a thought before purchasing a towel, guess not! This is because a product like this is always taken for granted. One of the most important factors to pay attention to when choosing a towel is the Material it is made of. A towel with the right material can make all the difference during the usage.

Towel is a breeding ground for the bacteria when wet and hence it is highly important to choose a material that dries of quickly.

  1. 100% cotton – Being the most widely used natural fiber cotton takes the first place for the best material for a bath towel. Cotton is the most absorbent fabric when compared to other materials like linen, bamboo etc. and not to mention a towel made of good quality cotton will be extremely soft.
  2. Combed Cotton – It is a well processed cotton where all the impurities are removed using the combing process. Towels made of combed cotton are the most popular choice for those with sensitive skin.
  3. Bamboo – Bamboo is also another popularly used material for towels these days with its natural antimicrobial properties, softness and lustrous feel.

Apart from the above popularly used choice of material for a towel, there are more materials like – Egyptian cotton, microfiber, zero twist cotton, organic cotton and so on that are trending in the market.

It is easier to get carried away with a lot of choices to pick from, yet it is really important to do a little research on the towels before purchasing one.
